Living the Dream: NFL's oldest cheerleader to get a life-based movie

Laura Vikmanis and her daughter in Bangals gear
I was browsing through the headlines today when I saw this inspirational story. Laura Vikmanis a 42 year old NFL cheerleader started dancing for the NFL when her husband left her for a younger woman. She had to try out for the Bengals twice before she made the team. She began dancing to fill a void and also to serve as an inspiration to her daughters. Laura is the oldest NFL cheerleader in history and now she is going to get to see her story protrayed on the big screen in a story penned by Emily Cook and Kathy Greenberg who wrote "Gnomeo and Juliet." Man I know her husband feels stupid.
Let's all send a big YOU GO GIRL to Laura Vikmanis!!!

Spring Fashion Report

Spring is fast approaching and you know what that means new fashion trends!!!! I am extremely excited about shopping this season after seeing the fashion and make up trends exhbibited during the fashion weeks. Here's some of the things me and my gems liked the best.
Clothing
Punk rock fashion still reigns. Skinny jeans, graphic tees, spiked heels, and flannel shirts are still in. My favorite punk rock trend is the dark black eyeliner. Here's a cute little tutorial on How To Dress Punk Rock CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE TUTORIAL

Biker clothing is extremely hot this season. Lots of leather( or pleather for my PETA girls) jackets, gloves, vest, and boots. I think it's fun sometimes to channel your inner biker chick especially in fashion. Try a plain white tee under a leather vest paired with light blue jeans and leather boots with plenty of straps and buckles. Throw in a couple pieces of studded jewelry for that true road warrior look.

Wes Gordon Trench
Spring 2011

Burberry Trench
For the chilly days trench coats are the bomb.com. Burberry is killing it with their trenches with the studs on the arms and shoulders.....
Haute!!!!

It seems like all of the fashion trends from way back when are coming back. Crocheted tops and skirts are becoming increasingly popular amongst the bohemian's and wide leg pants with high waist are becoming a trend for the more sophisticated dresser. Me I switch my style everyday so I must invest in them all. Check out the crocheted tops from my fashion line ICSY Beautiful at http://www.icsybeautiful.com./

Alberta Ferretti
Spring 2011
I'm also loving that japanese inspired clothing has popped back on the scene. Now I'm not trying to see you divas out here in the full kimonos with geisha buns and pale make up on your faces. A simple yet elegant kimono inspired top with a skirt made of some type of flowy fabric like the one by Alberta Ferretti to the left will keep you in style for spring 2011.
Another fashion trend that I absolutely love are these amazingly sexy trench dresses. With the right accessories and make up you can take them from a day at work, to lunch and shopping with the girls, and then an evening with the one you love (or love to be with). But if you are just looking for a sexy but suttle outfit for a night out I am feeling the sheer over lace. Try maybe a sheer blouse over  a lace lined corset with jeans or leggings if you dare and those infamous CFM boots... we all have them!

Giambattista Valli
For patterns textile designers are really giving us a reason to reach into our over-sized bags and spend! Funky prints are the rage this season along with bold neon colors and suttle desert solors. But of course spring can't be spring without floral prints.

Accessories
Of course if you know me at all you will know that I live for the accessory. I truly believe with every part of my fashionista soul that accessories willl make or break your outfit. A plain jean and fitted white tee can be club ready with the right accessory and for this spring 2011 that is almost every accessory designers objective.
This season you are going to see plenty of tassles from shoes to purses to earrings. Oversized bling is also a trend this season. Channel your inner rap star with this vintage Chanel chain my fellow blogger irokfashion.com put me on. Preppy accessories were also very popular amongst the fashion week runways so expect to see plent of boat shoes, smart leather bags, and pearls. Christian Louboutin also is coming full force with the clutches decorated with spikes and chains and studs...oh my!!! Be sure to check out http://www.icsybeautiful.com/ for your custom accessory needs.

Christian Louboutin clutch

Guess who crept back in our lives. The wedge heel and she brought her sister the vlog to visit. Now clogs I'm not too excited for but the wedge is made for divas all over. It gives you height, comfort, and sophistication all in one cute little wedge heel. Welcome back my love.
CUTE!!
Wedge open toe booties.

Not your typical wedge...interesting though.

Makeup
As a make up artist I know how important it is to have the perfect make up with the perfect outfit and this spring you should have no problems pulling it off.
Mary Kay has definetly stepped their game up with their make up making them not only the number one cosmetic line but also a contender in the make up game visit www.marykay.com/imaginebeauty for the latest additions to their collection. You can also check out the Mary kay Trend Report for their fashion predictions and make up tips.
MAC also has some amazing additions to its line. Keeping up with the pink lip trend they have added Pink Nouveau lipstick to the collection. I also love the new denim palletes they have available, could have something to do with my obsession with denim. And the name fits it so well because it is Jeanius. Visit mac.com to check out these new hits!

If you are the type of bold chick who rocks the red lipstick then here's an amazing variation to your killer style, orange lipstick was seen all over the fashion week runways this past February and you know what I absolutely love it! I tried it on a few of my clients and here's a tip...if you are going to wear orange lipstick then keep the rest of the make up on your face to a minimum. Send me an email of you have any make up questions @ mzknowitallblog@yahoo.com .

Basketball Wives Season 2 Reunion

Well as expected the cast of Basketball Wives put on a show for the season finale. So much so that they had to break the show up into two segments. Drama, DRAMA, DRAMA is all I can say. Mostly between Eve-Jen and Royce. It seems like they just couldn't find enough petty b.s to cackle about and it was purely entertaining. Evelyn pretty much had drama with everyone except for Shaunie and Jen and since Jen's "loyalty" resides with Evelyn she pretty much just sided with whatever Evelyn had to say.

Sidenote:I find it simply entertaining to watch Jen try to tell someone off don't you?

I also loved the new attitude Royce had. I guess since she pretty much knows that she won't be on Season 3 she figured she would lay the cards on the table and say how she really felt about everyone. I was a little disappointed however that they didn't mention the so called beef between her and Shaunie over Shaunie's little young thing trying to romance Royce. Makes me think there's no truth to that rumor.
But Royce did go in in Evelyn and Jen which they both deserved. While Royce pointed the character flaws that Eve-Jen had all they really had to talk about was Royce's cheap dress. It was cheap guys but she did rock it well.
But you know how those girls are about their fashion. It was a Christian Louboutin parade on the stage. Was it just me or was Evelyn a little overly colorful? Maybe it's just time for her to start dressing her age. Gloria was looking fabulous in that little mamcita number she had on. You go girl. Tami was also looking fabulous. Did not expect all that. She finally got her Basketball Wives check so she could do a little something. A double you go girl to you Tami!!!
Here's my question though. Did Tami and Evelyn patch things up or are they still beefed out. I couldn't  really tell because the two are so psycho and switch up so much. Someone please comment below and clear things up.

All in all, the Basketball Wives Season 2 finale was a very interesting show but at some point I felt like I was watching a video of high school girls. Season finale host John Salley couldn't have said it better they do "teenage woman sh**". I think it's time for the basketball wives to step their game up for season three. Especially if Shaunie wants to make it to season 10 like she said last night on the reunion show. Well I know I will be watching Basketball Wives Season 3 and giving you all the info!

If you missed Basketball Wives Season 2 reunion show check out a video clip here . Also check out photos

5 Skin Care Mistakes

During the winter months skin care becomes a number one priority. The change in the weather combined with dry winter air causes drying and discoloration to the skin, which can ruin your complete look. Here are 5 habits that will cause even more damage to your skin. If you change these 5 bad skin habits with a combination of a daily skin regiment then you will be on the road to beautiful skin. For more information, you can visit www.marykay.com/imaginebeauty or send all questions to imaginebeauty@marykay.com.
5 Bad Skin Habits
1.       Choosing the wrong cleanser- This is the worst mistake that a person can make when it comes to skin care. Your cleanser is as unique as your skin, and you should look at it that way. Mary Kay offers many varieties of cleansers for your age and skin type. For more information about cleansers and skin types visit www.marykay.com/imaginebeauty.
2.       Over exfoliating- What a lot of people don’t realize is that there is a such thing as too clean. Over exfoliating strips your skin of necessary nutrients, and leaves your face looking dull, dry, and life-less. Avoid exfoliating your skin as part of your daily regiment and instead just do it every other day. Try Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion set for the perfect exfoliation product(www.marykay.com/imaginebeauty).
3.       Over moisturizing- You wouldn’t put too much oil in your car would you? Over moisturizing your skin causes clogged pores that can cause those little nasty bumps that we hate to see. You must know your skin type in order to know how often you should apply moisturizer on your face, but generally speaking you should only apply your moisturizer after you wash your face. You should also make sure that you are using a moisturizer that will last all day instead of wearing off in a few hours leaving you with that dry feeling. And never ever use regular body lotion on your face, it’s too heavy for the skin and weighs it down.
4.       Not washing your face before you go to bed- Going to sleep with make-up and dirt on your face is a big skin care no-no. You must give your skin a chance to breath without concealers and foundations, also your skin is exposed to so many disgusting things( smoke, pollution, and dirt) who wants to let that sit on their face all night seeping into your pores. Yuck. Wash your face with a cleanser that is fit for your skin type. For cleanser options visit www.marykay.com/imaginebeauty.
5.       Wearing old make-up- Old make-up does to the skin what old milk does to your body. Got the picture? Old make-up is bad news for the skin so recycle your old make-up and restock them often. For a list of common expiration dates for most cosmetics send an email to imaginebeauty@marykay.com.

So now you are on your way to healthier skin any time of year. For more information about skin care or to do a virtual makeover visit www.marykay.com/imagineabeauty

New Years Resolutions

New year, new layout, new resolutions.
The first two actually apply, but the latter not so much. I decided that this year I would be totally different. With that change I decided that that I would not be setting resolutions for myself because they are always broken. This year instead I will set standards for myself. Instead of vowing to quit cursing or to be more punctual ( I'm always running late), I just vowed to improve myself all around. I'm not going to set unrealistic goals for myself because that just leads to a ton of disappointment at the end of the year when you have a list of unresolved resolutions.
With that said, yes it is a new year, so to spice things up I did decide to re-design the blog. Not much just changed the background and I also removed a lot of the unnecessary clutter that was weighing down my page. That is my gift for you. I want to give you all of me minus the drama. So for 2011 it's straight up no chaser. None of the frills of 2010.
I'm actually excited for this year. it seems to be very promising for us all. My online magazine True Link will be publishing its anniversary issue, so make sure that you log on to www.truelinkmagazine.com and subscribe so you can have it delivered to your inbox as soon as  it's released.
Until then, respect and love each other and yourselves.
Peace
